This level 3 Electricians qualification is the natural progression from C&G 2365 level 2 or for those of you who hold other Electrical industry recognised qualifications like C&G 2360 Part 1 or C&G 2330 level 2. This qualification is required if you are looking to progress within the Electrical industry or if you are looking to move on and achieve NVQ level 3.
What You’ll Learn
This is the natural progression for anyone who holds a recognised level 2 Electrical Installation qualification and is the next step towards becoming a qualified Electrician. The C&G 2365 level 3 is the industry recognised route for Electricians looking to achieve that next level of electrical knowledge and skills, providing an advanced understanding of electrical science, inspection & testing procedures, fault diagnosis and rectification and installation design.
Assessment Units are:
- 301 – Level 3 Understand the fundamental principles and requirements of environmental technology systems, assessed by way of an online exam
- 302 – Level 3 Principles of Electrical Science, assessed by way of a 2 hour written exam and a short practical task
- 303 – Level 3 Electrical Installations: Fault Diagnosis and Rectification, assessed by way of online exam and a practical assessment
- 304 – Level 3 Electrical Installations: Inspection, Testing and Commissioning, assessed by way of online exam, a practical assessment and a 2 hour written exam
- 305 – Level 3 Electrical Systems Design, assessed by a written design assignment and an online exam
- 308 – Level 3 Career awareness in building services engineering, assessed by a written assignment and a short answer exam.
How You’ll Learn
These qualifications are a real mix of both practical workshop tasks as well as classroom based theory. We will provide you with the relevant text book and hand-outs to support the course which are yours to keep! We have a dedicated computer suite in which you will undertake the mandatory online exams and our practical training bays are equipped with training boards set to exceed specific City & Guilds requirements and all tools and materials are readily available for all of your electrical requirements. We also have an abundance of up to date test equipment for you to use throughout the training course. We will take you as close as we can to ‘reality’ to prepare you for your next steps within the electrical industry.
Courses Open To You After
From this course you can move on to 17th Edition, PAT Testing, Inspection & Testing qualifications and NVQ level 3 and we also have a dedicated AM2 Centre which is an independent test of your skills and knowledge and is highly regarded within the Electrical industry.
This course is available full time over 7 weeks but is also available using weekend training. Weekends are structured on a 2 weekend on and then 2 weekend off basis which still leaves you time to do other ‘non work’ or ‘non study’ related things. We will supply you with the level 3 C&G text book which supports the course however we do also recommend that you have a copy of the OnSite Guide and also a copy of the current Wiring Regulations. Some small aspects of the work associated with a level 3 course can be completed electronically so you may want to bring a lap top along with you. We offer interest free payment plans and we also have accommodation if you feel that we are just that little bit too far away from you to travel daily. We have great facilities and instructors and we welcome all visitors to the centre so if you want to investigate your investment a bit more, come along and see us – no appointment is required and we are open 7 days every week.
Please be aware that although it is possible to go straight on to the level 3, it does present problems if the candidate does not possess the required knowledge. The level 3 is a progression from the level 2, it builds on the knowledge learned.
In order to by-pass level 2, you will need to know basic cable calculations, knowledge of Ohm’s law, the effect of resistance, inductance and capacitance and the science side of how electricity and circuits work. Along with that you will need practical experience of installation (which is covered in level 2), basic installation methods of wiring systems and containment systems. In addition, if you come direct on to level 3, prior to attending, you will need to:
- Provide a comprehensive CV
- Provide detailed letters of reference to confirm exactly what work you undertake, roles, responsibility etc
- Come in for 3 days to complete the following units:
- 201 – practical task
- 601 – online exam
- 204 – practical task
These additional days will be charged at £500 – these units are required in order for us to generate full certification at level 3 (mapped units from level 2). To assist with these units, we will provide home-study documents ahead of attendance.
